FURNISTORE FUN DAY

VOLUNTEERS’ WEEK
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for their help and support. Without them, we would not be able to help so many families in need in East Surrey. We are very grateful for all the work you do for Furnistore!
We were delighted to welcome the Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead to celebrate Furnistore’s 30th anniversary.
The afternoon was spent with trustees, volunteers and Men in Sheds, recognising our commitment to supporting families in need and serving the community.

VOLUNTEER VAN DRIVERS AND CREW NEEDED
We are looking for volunteer van drivers and crew to join our friendly team. If you have the time to spare and want to help your community why not volunteer with Furnistore?
Open: Monday to Saturday from 10am- 4pm
Thank you for all your help and support

VOLUNTEER AWARDS 2024
We are delighted to announce that three of our volunteers were recognised at Reigate & Banstead Volunteer Awards this year.
Presenting the awards, the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Eddy Humphreys said: “I have read all your stories and they are inspirational. As I have said before, the work that volunteers do in our communities is immeasurable. We are all very grateful, and I want to thank you all for giving so much of your time up to make a difference in other people’s lives. You are an inspiration to us all”.

Congratulations to Callum for a Young Volunteer Award!
Callum joined Furnistore 2 years ago as a warehouse volunteer. Due to his ADHD, Callum initially found it challenging to interact with other volunteers and was hesitant to assist in the warehouse, often staying in the kitchen or at the back of the warehouse. His tasks involved loading and unloading the van, rearranging furniture, assembling beds, organising bric-a-brac, and preparing kitchen packs for those in need.
However, Callum has shown remarkable progress after receiving feedback. He has become proactive, maintains a positive outlook, and has built good relationships with everyone. He now excels in guiding new volunteers and serves as an inspiration to them.
Congratulations to Shawn for a Volunteer Award!
Shawn has dedicated five years as a valuable volunteer member of our van crew, despite his learning difficulties and ADHD. His responsibilities involve loading and unloading the van, as well as delivering furniture and household items, and interacting with customers which can be daunting for someone with ADHD, but not for Shawn.
His cheerful personality wins through the most challenging customers. Sometimes, the job demands carrying heavy furniture up four flights of stairs, a task that Shawn tackles without hesitation, bringing a positive impact and inspiring the entire crew.
Congratulations to Mary for a Long Service Award!
Mary has been volunteering for Furnistore for 13 years! She takes care of our soft furnishings by washing, ironing, pricing, packaging, and displaying them. Additionally, Mary prepares hygiene packs for individuals and families who are unable to purchase their own.
Mary is a true inspiration, she never misses a shift and spreads positivity to everyone she meets. Mary’s infectious laughter, can-do attitude, and compassion for younger and less fortunate volunteers brighten everyone’s day, she has a keen eye for quality and maintains high standards in her work, despite an injury that has her using a walking stick, Mary continues to provide exceptional service.
