WHY IT MATTERS

Your furniture goes to someone who truly needs it

Furniture poverty is more common than most people realise. Beds, sofas, tables — the things that make a house liveable — are out of reach for many families facing financial hardship. Since 1995, Furnistore has been helping to change that, and we’ve diverted over 2 million kg of furniture from landfill in the process.

Your donation goes further than you might think. Families in crisis receive essential items free of charge, those on means-tested benefits pay half price on essentials, and everyone else finds quality furniture at prices that are hard to beat on the high street.

WHAT WE ACCEPT

  • Sofas & armchairs (with fire labels)

  • Beds, bed frames & mattresses (with fire labels)

  • Tables, chairs & dining sets

  • Wardrobes, drawers & storage

  • Appliances & electrical goods (with CE marks)

  • Decorative items, soft furnishings & linens

❌ Items we can’t accept

  • Cookers and ovens

  • Broken or unsafe furniture

  • Items without fire labels

  • Stained or damaged upholstered furniture or mattresses

  • Non-working electrical items

If your item is clean, safe, and in good usable condition, we can usually accept it. Not sure? Send us a photo and we’ll let you know. Guides to fire labels and CE marks are below.

Fire Labels

Due to fire safety regulations, we cannot accept furniture that does not have a fire safety label. All labels must be securely attached.

Examples: 1. upholstered furniture  2. beds & mattresses

The following examples are NOT fire labels. Furniture with just these attached cannot be accepted.

 

CE Marks

Due to safety regulations all electrical items must display a CE mark. It is usually easy to locate, however in fridges or fridge-freezers it is sometimes hidden behind a drawer.

Call, email, or fill in our contact form. Please include photos if possible.

2  We arrange collection

Our green van will come to you, free of charge, at a time that suits you.

3  A local family benefits

Your furniture goes straight back into the community — not to landfill.

Gift Aid

If you’re a UK taxpayer, please consider signing up for Gift Aid. It lets us claim an extra 25p for every £1 raised from your donated items — at no cost to you. Just confirm you’ve paid enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover what we reclaim.
